How the Calculation Works
Each shape uses its standard area formula. For rectangles (the most common room shape), simply multiply length by width. The calculator automatically converts your input unit to feet before computing.
Rectangle: Area = Length x Width
Circle: Area = π x Radius²
Triangle: Area = 0.5 x Base x Height
Trapezoid: Area = 0.5 x (Base1 + Base2) x Height
If you enter dimensions in inches, the calculator divides each measurement by 12 to convert to feet. Yards are multiplied by 3, and meters are multiplied by 3.28084 before the area formula is applied.
